Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School Receives $28 Million in Grants from Gates Foundation, Packard Foundation and Hewlett Foundation to Expand Advanced Family Planning Advocacy

Newswise — The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has received $28 million in grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the David and Lucile Packard Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation to continue and expand the Advance Family Planning advocacy initiative within the Bloomberg School’s Bill & Melinda Gates Institute on Population and Reproductive Health.

Advance Family Planning aims to increase resources and political commitment for quality family planning programs, as part of the July 2012 London Summit on Family Planning (now known as FP2020). The vision of the summit was to enable more women and girls in some of the world’s poorest countries to use contraceptive information, services and supplies, without coercion or discrimination, by 2020.

Allscripts Has More Issues With a Class Action Lawsuit Filed in Florida Claiming MyWay EMR Product Non Performance and Large Expenditures Expenditures

The MyWay system has been around for a long time and it was technology Misys bought, which is now Allscripts.  I used to go up against this early EMR with my little system and shortly after I sold a few licenses everything went to the web and I realized that support and training were going to compound as simple complexities were already on the way and there was no way a single developer could survive and I would die at the keyboard from exhaustion. 

Now we have a clinic in Florida who has filed a class action suit on the behalf of their clinic and any other users who faced similar problems.  Yes it was buggy and that’s part of what occurred and still does at times when you acquire software from other developers and don’t have the programming expertise in house.  That’s what makes Epic so hard to beat too as they have everything in house.  The statements in the lawsuit said over 5000 MDs bought the system over 4 years so that’s a good sized number.  In the early days certification did not exist either.  The lawsuit basically states Allscripts breached it’s warranty to the Clinic with selling a defective product.  The MyWay system was never able to be certified.  The suit also claims the upgrade that was “free” in cost also caused financial lost with the upgrade and having to learn an entirely new system.  The suit also says Allscripts is a foreign corporation.  Just a few weeks ago we had this happen.

In addition Allscripts is suing NYC Health over the fact that they chose another EHR system, which does not look cool for one.

Like I have said before it takes time to develop software and EMRs are at the top of the list as new technologies come in to play as well as adding more operability features and that part is always in progress.  As I keep saying “the short order code kitchen burned down a few years ago and there was no fire sale”.  Glad I quit when I did and moved clients to other systems a nominal cost instead of trying to sell mine when all went to the web.  BD

By selling the defective MyWay product and refusing to fix its defects or refund the purchase price after it decided to discontinue the product, Allscripts has breached its warranty to its physician-customers to provide a product suited for its intended purpose. In addition, Allscripts has been unjustly enriched by retaining the money paid by MyWay purchasers and users without delivering an EHR software product that performs as it was intended to work."

Perspektif antara Blogspot dengan cms lainnnya

Kali ini disore hari yang sedang galau mau ngerjain revisi sidang kemaren, mending tak posting lagi blog baru yang sedang di ikut sertakan lomba seo dengan kw : Sentuhan SEO ala Nubi DBP. Kali ini saya akan membahas mengenai perspekftif para webmaster terhadap Blogspot dengan cms lainnya misalnya wp,joomla dan sebagainya. Ini sih pengalaman dan opini dari nubitol mesintempur , kalo menurut ane hal pertama yang musti dilihat adalah index antara cepot dengan cms lainnya. Cara membandingkannya cukup mudah, nah mungkin sedikit berkaitan dengan kontes seo yang sedang berjalan pada member dbp sendiri. Karena untuk membuild blog baru ada yang menggunakan cepot dan wp ya kan???, #btw joomla or drupal ada gak ya ?? xixixixi. Ya mungkin sampai saat ini yang sangat-sangat familiar ya 2 itu cepot dan wp, bisa dikatakan mudah digunakan, kalo bahasa kejunya #easy using kali ya??? tau bener tau salah wkwkwkw. The Computer is in Your Socks–Sensors and Monitoring Discreetly at Your Feet…Beyond the Accelerator With Mobile Health Monitoring

The company is called Heapsylon and they manufacture sensors that are in the clothing.  You can watch the videos and learn more about how this works.  There’s both a diabetes monitoring benefit as well as a fitness benefit to the sensors and the software.  This is the first company out of the Flextronics accelerator program from Flextronics and they are big all over the world.  FlexLabs is the name of the accelerator who is funding.  In addition some crowd funding is on the way as I understand in talking with Davide Vigano, the CEO.  Davide worked at Microsoft in the past and as a matter of fact the entire founding group has roots there.  I asked if the sensors and software will connect to PHRs and Davide stated they would be releasing an API at some point and of course I would expect HealthVault to be on that map.

What is really nice though to me is their privacy policy…they are yet another emerging company that won’t sell your data, they want to sell socks with sensors instead and that’s their model.  The sensors currently in the socks can be placed in almost any fabric, and thus so could be worn out of public view if one desired.  Here’s some additional information discussing how the sensors compare with accelerators in the video below.   You have both here with sensors in the socks and the accelerator in the phone and hear from some actual users on what they think.

The company, called Heapslyon, is making completely normal, washable socks that are embedded with sensors that users can't even feel.
"We had to invent everything from scratch," said Mario Esposito, the company's chief technology officer.
The socks feel like any other sock until you attach a magnetic anklet that feeds back information, via Bluetooth, to a computer that can not only display waveforms of impacts on the foot, but a smartphone app will eventually give a user audio cues in their ear bud when their running technique is poor.
The free app will also display east to understand graphics on how to improve their stride.

"Not just telling them how far and how fast they run, but how many calories they burn, primarily how well they run," said Heapslyon co-founder Davide Vagano. "We think there is an opportunity to prevent injuries, to tell people you're heal striking"

If they get the funding they need, they figure the anklet, a pair of socks and the smartphone app will be sold as a bundle for $149. Early investors with Indiegogo will get $50 off and the first set of devices and socks coming off the assembly line.
