Good Reason to Think About Storing Your Pet’s Medical Records in a PHR as Major Veterinary Clink in Oakland Shuts It’s Doors With No Warning

I turns out the news media found the owner and the animal hospital had been in business for over 40 years.  I think there may be more to this than we are hearing as the owner would not go on camera but said she hopesimage to some day re-open the facility.  Several pet owners had their animals in the middle of receiving care so this would sink anyone’s heart in a hurry. The after thought is having your pets medical records where you can access them.   Many PHRs now have a section devoted to storing pet records.  The last vet I went to with my dog in southern California has all of the patients on electronic medical records.

The good thing is that no animals were lost here but what a shock to arrive and see closed noticed posted all over the doors.  Anyway one more reason to think about a PHR as if it’s like mine, the dog’s records and data is just a little bit more than I have with the information on myself!  BD

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- One of the oldest veterinary hospitals in Oakland has suddenly shut its doors and left thousands of pets without their doctors or medical records. No one could track down the owner until 7 On Your Side investigated.

Monser would not tell us why the hospital closed, but says she hopes to re-open it. She could not say when. Monser saids she is trying to copy patient records, but the process is slow.

Monser told us, "There are thousands of clients and some of the records are very long, with multiple pages. Copying each client's records is time consuming and costly but I am working to get them all completed."
